Stop Cutting Shaker Windows. Do THIS Instead.

I’m sharing my go-to shortcut for shaker cards. No measuring, no fussing, and it looks so clean!

Hi crafty friends! Shaker cards can feel intimidating, but this technique makes them surprisingly simple. I paired the Big Birthday word die with the It’s A Party layering stencils from Honey Bee Stamps for a bright, graphic background that’s perfect for birthdays.

In the video, you’ll learn:

  • How to choose the right word die for this technique (the shadow layer is the key)
  • How to stencil a bold rainbow background with layering stencils
  • How to build a clean acetate window behind the word opening
  • How to foam up your shaker so the mix moves freely (and doesn’t escape)
  • How to reduce static so your shaker bits don’t cling

This is one of those techniques you’ll use again and again. Swap the stenciled background for patterned paper or ink blending, change the shaker mix, and you’ve got a completely different card with the same easy construction.

What word die would you turn into a shaker first—birthday, thanks, hello, or something snarky?

Happy crafting!
