5 Must Try Distress Backgrounds
Check out these five different distress ink backgrounds!
Sometimes you just have to get your fingers a little inky. I decided to play around in my craft room with different distress backgrounds. I was so happy with how they turned out, that I wanted to share! Having distress backgrounds on hand is great for those quick, last minute cards. Wet Stamping Background
- First Version:
- Watercolor Cardstock. I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
- Distress Inks. I used Picked Raspberry and Salty Ocean.
- Background Stamp. I used the Simon Says Friendship Text Background.
- Ranger Heat It Craft Tool.
- Water Sprayer. I used the Distress Sprayer.
- Card Base. You can use any weight, brand or color of cardstock. I used Neenah 110lb Classic Crest cardstock.
- Second Version:
- Watercolor Cardstock. I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
- Distress Inks. I used Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio, Salty Ocean, and Peacock Feathers.
- Stamp Set. I used the Simon Says Congrats Word Mix stamp set. You can use any stamp set for this technique. Sentiment and floral sets work really well.
- Water Sprayer. I used the Distress Sprayer.
- Card Base. You can use any weight, brand or color of cardstock. I used Neenah 110lb Classic Crest cardstock.
Ink Smooshing Background
- Watercolor Cardstock. I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
- Distress Inks. I used Kitsch Flamingo, Squeezed Lemonade, Peacock Feathers, and Wilted Violet.
- Ranger Heat It Craft Tool.
- Water Sprayer. I used the Distress Sprayer.
- Card Base. You can use any weight, brand or color of cardstock. I used Neenah 110lb Classic Crest cardstock.
Galaxy Blending Background
- Black Cardstock. I used Hero Arts Pitch Black Cardstock.
- White Pigment Ink. I used Simon Says Stamp White.
- Distress Oxide Inks. I used Salvaged Patina, Prize Ribbon, and Villainous Potion.
- Ink Blending Tools. I used Gina K Blending Brushes.
- Perfect Pearls. I used Perfect Pearl Powder that I keep in a Mini Mister with water.
- Fan Brush. You can use any fan brush. I used the one from the Royal Unicorn Brush Set.

Brayer Embossing Background
- Watercolor Cardstock. I used Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Cardstock.
- Distress Oxide Inks. I used Worn Lipstick, Ripe Persimmon, and Scattered Straw.
- Brayer. I used the Tim Holtz Distress Brayer.
- Embossing Folder. I used the Spellbinders Plaid Folder.
- Card Base. You can use any weight, brand or color of cardstock. I used Neenah 110lb Classic Crest cardstock.
Glazed Background
- Alcohol Ink Cardstock. I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Cardstock.
- Distress Oxide Inks. I used Peacock Feathers, Tumbled Glass, and Broken China.
