Layered Florals as a Frame: A Bold Thank You Card with Altenew
Combining layered stamping and die cutting to build a dimensional floral frame
Hi crafty friends! I’m excited to share another Altenew Educator Certification Program project. For this assignment, I took inspiration from the Layering 3D Dies and More class. While the course focused on layering dies, I decided to take that idea in a slightly different direction—by layering stamped and die cut florals to create a bold, dimensional frame.

Crafting the Card
I started by stamping a full set of florals using the Ethereal Blooms stamps and three beautiful Fresh Dye Ink bundles:
- Summer Afternoon for warm golden yellows
- Warm & Cozy for bright oranges
- Red Cosmos for vibrant reds and pinks
After stamping, I used the coordinating Ethereal Blooms dies to cut out all of the layered images. This gave me a variety of floral shapes in a cohesive yet colorful palette.
To anchor the composition, I cut a piece of Frosty Pink Cardstock to 2 ¾” x 4″ and adhered it to the center of an A2-sized white card base. This soft pink panel gave me a clean foundation to build a floral frame around.

Using Instant Dimension Foam Tape, I popped up a mix of the yellow, orange, and pink flowers around the edge of the pink panel. I overlapped and layered the blooms to create fullness and depth, rotating the shapes to keep the design loose and organic.
In the center of the frame, I added a bold sentiment. I stamped it in Jet Black Fresh Dye Ink, die cut it, and adhered it with foam tape for extra pop.
To finish things off, I added a few Mother of Pearl Gem Sparkles to some of the flower centers for a hint of shine.

Tip: Stamp in Color Families
When creating layered floral frames, stamp your images in cohesive color families. This makes it easier to mix and match pieces later without the composition feeling chaotic. Altenew’s curated Fresh Dye Ink bundles take the guesswork out of layering and help you get beautifully layered results every time.
I hope this card inspires you to stretch your floral stamps and dies in new ways. Layering can add interest and impact to any project. Happy stamping!
