Crafting a botanical card with Altenew’s September 2023 release!

Hey there, fellow crafters! Today, I’m sharing a cardmaking project that’s all about creativity and the art of heat embossing. This card was inspired by the Altenew Online Workshop: Impressive Heat Embossing, where I learned cool ways to make my projects shine with heat embossing. To create this botanical-themed wonder, I turned to the new Altenew September 2023 release, which includes the Mushroom Garden Layering Stencil Set, Mushroom Greetings Outline Stamp Set, and Mushroom Greetings Die Set. Technique

My creative journey starts with Altenew’s September 2023 release—a collection packed with crafty goodies. For this project, I picked the Mushroom Garden Layering Stencil Set, Mushroom Greetings Outline Stamp Set, and Mushroom Greetings Die Set. These sets provide the perfect tools for crafting a nature-inspired masterpiece.

To create a nature-inspired backdrop, I used the Mushroom Garden Layering Stencil Set. These stencils allowed me to craft intricate backgrounds filled with mushrooms, leaves, and branches. I used different shades of green with each stencil, resulting in a monochromatic botanical background that captured the essence of nature.

I turned to the Mushroom Greetings Outline Stamp Set next. I stamped a group of mushrooms using alcohol marker-friendly ink and colored them with vibrant shades of blue, red, and yellow. These colorful mushrooms stood out beautifully against the green background.

Here’s where the heat embossing magic happened. The inspiration for this card came from the Altenew Online Workshop: Impressive Heat Embossing. Armed with an embossing ink pen, I discovered a nifty way to add captivating details to my projects. By simply coloring embossing ink onto certain parts of my card and dusting them with clear embossing powder, I created raised accents that added depth and style to my creation.

I heat embossed a sentiment from the same Mushroom Greetings Outline Stamp Set, this time using black embossing powder. The sentiment gave a personal touch to my card. I then die-cut both the embossed mushrooms and the sentiment using the Mushroom Greetings Die Set, and placed them thoughtfully on the card’s front to create a balanced composition.

Tip

Don’t hesitate to experiment with different embossing powder colors to add variety and excitement to your projects. While clear embossing powder creates an elegant and subtle effect, trying out embossing powders in various shades can add a pop of color and dimension to your heat-embossed details. Play around with different combinations to discover unique and eye-catching results that make your creations truly stand out. Happy crafting!
