Altenew Online Workshop: Easy Die Cutting Techniques

I found some much needed die cutting inspiration!

Do you find yourself falling into the same old routines with die cutting? Stamp, die cut, repeat. I am excited to say I found some much needed inspiration in the Altenew Online Workshop Easy Die Cutting Techniques!

The class is full of fresh ideas on how to get more out of your dies. I was inspired by the class to use my die cut foiled sentiments as faux charms on a tag! I am so happy with how these tags came out.

Technique

First, I used mica spray stains to create a shimmery, colorful background. Once dry, I die cut the background into two tags using a die from my stash. Then I ran the tags through my embossing machine using the Spellbinders Forevergreen embossing folder.

Next, I used the gorgeous Altenew Holiday Greetings Hot Foil Plate Set to hot foil two greetings on white cardstock. To cut out the sentiments, I used the coordinating Altenew Holiday Greetings Die Set.

Here’s where I really felt inspired. Instead of glueing the sentiment to the tag, I decided to glue a small rectangle of cardstock (that was hole punched) to the back of the sentiment. Now I had a sentiment charm to attach to my tag!

To finish, I used some pretty twine to tie everything together!

Tip

Lightly mist the back of your tag, or rub it with a baby wipe, before you run your embossing folder through your die cutting machine. A little bit of moisture on the back of the paper will help the fibers of the paper stretch and reduce any chance of your paper cracking.
