Five Ways to Use Embossing Powder
Learn five ways to heat emboss on your cards!
With the holidays approaching, silver and gold are showing up everywhere. Seeing all that sparkle motivated me to get a head start on my holiday cards this year. I knew I wanted to use embossing powder, so I played around and came up with five really fun ways to heat emboss cards!
These holiday cards came out even better than I hoped! All of the shine from the gold embossing powder is mesmerizing. Check out my video tutorial below to learn these awesome heat embossing techniques!
Materials Used for Heat Embossed Cards
- Stamps and Dies. I used a stamp set from Lawn Fawn and one from Doodlebug. These were exclusive to a crafting event I attended, but you can use whatever you would like for these techniques.
- Cardstock. You can use any weight, brand or color of cardstock. I used Neenah 110lb Classic Crest cardstock for my backgrounds, along with Bazzill Basics Kraft and Hero Art Hues Pitch Black cardstock for my framing layers. You can mix and match whatever style of paper you would like for the desired effect.
- Stencil. You can use any stencil you like. I used a chevron stencil for this project.
- Embossing Folder. I used the Spellbinders Forevergreen Folder.
- Art Glitter Glue, Gina K Connect Glue, or a similar adhesive to adhere your backgrounds to your framing layers.
- Double-Sided Tape. I used Therm O Web Easy Tear Tape.
- Foam Sheets, Double-Sided Adhesive Foam Squares or something similar. In this project I used foam sheets underneath my panels.
- Ink. I used Simon Says Stamp ink in Intense Black.
- Rectangle Dies. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle Dies.
- Embossing Ink. I used clear Versamark Embossing Ink.
- Embossing Pen. I used a Ranger Inkssentials Embossing Pen.
- Embossing Powder. I used Ranger Super Fine Gold embossing powder.
- Embellishments. You can use any kind of embellishments that work well with your stamps. I used Bead Landing Sticky Gems and Close to My Heart Striped Ribbon Bows.
