Altenew Educator Certification Program

As some of you know, I am in the process of working towards my Altenew Educator Certification. This post is part of my level two challenge for program. For this challenge, I was asked to select three components from my Altenew classes and create four masculine cards. I chose the following components to incorporate into my cards:

• Geometrics, For the Guys Online Cardmaking Class: Geometric shapes and patterns add a modern and masculine touch to card designs.
• White with Pops of Color, Polychromatic Online Cardmaking Class: Using white as a primary color and adding pops of color creates a clean and visually appealing design.
• Metallic Paper, Let It Shine Online Cardmaking Class: Incorporating metallic paper adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to card designs.

What is Geometric Design?

Before we dive into the cards, let’s take a quick look at what geometric design is all about. Geometric design is a style that uses geometric shapes, such as triangles, squares, circles, and hexagons, to create visually appealing patterns and compositions. These shapes can be arranged in various ways to create different effects, from bold and graphic to subtle and intricate. Geometric design is often associated with modern and contemporary styles, but it can also be used to create traditional and vintage-inspired looks.

What is Natural Design?

Natural design is an aesthetic approach that celebrates the beauty of the great outdoors. By incorporating organic elements, such as botanical motifs, earthy hues, and natural textures, natural design brings a sense of serenity and authenticity to creative projects. This style encourages us to appreciate the intricate details and patterns found in nature, and to draw inspiration from the world around us.

Four Distinctive Card Designs

Now for the fun part! Here are four masculine card designs, each featuring a bold, geometric pattern paired with natural elements.

For this encouragement card, I combined the Modern Circles Builder Stencil Set with the Botanical Line Art Die Set to create a unique geometric-meets-nature design.

The geometric circular pattern provides a pleasing background for the striking, natural leaf shape. This card is perfect for sending a motivational message to a loved one, with the geometric elements adding a modern touch to the natural theme.

Card 2: Big and Bold Birthday Vibes

This birthday card showcases a bold, geometric design featuring the Triangle Madness Die Set and the Bird of the Mountain Die Set.

The triangle pattern adds a fun, playful touch, while the layered bird bring in a sense of adventure and exploration. The combination of geometric and natural elements creates a unique, eye-catching design that’s perfect for a birthday celebration.

Card 3: The Perfect Anniversary Pair

For this anniversary card, I paired the Sunset Horizon Stencil Set with the Perfect Mate stamps and dies to create a fun take on love.

The sunset background provides a warm, intimate setting, while the chess themed elements add a playful, whimsical touch. This card is perfect for celebrating a special anniversary, with the geometric elements adding a modern, sophisticated flair.

Card 4: Thinking of Steampunk

This thinking-of-you card showcases a dramatic, geometric color-blocked background, perfectly complemented by the Midnight Moths stamps and dies, and the elegant Deco Cover Die Set.

The intricate, organic moths and art deco frame edge add a captivating touch of mystery and whimsy, while the bold, geometric background provides a striking counterpoint. The result is a unique, eclectic design that blends steampunk charm with sophisticated style, making it perfect for sending a thoughtful message to a loved one.
