Altenew September 2022 Inspiration Challenge

I used the Altenew September 2022 Inspiration Challenge photograph!

Do you ever find yourself at a loss as to what colors you want to use? I have the perfect answer — the Altenew Insipration Challenge! Each month Altenew posts an inspiration challenge photograph on their card blog. The photographs are beautiful and provide you with a jumping off point for your card!

As a bonus, four winners receive $30 gift certificate to Altenew and a chance to receive never-before-seen Altenew products for FREE and join one of Altenew’s future blog hops as a guest designer! I decided to use the challenge photograph to complete my homework for Altenew’s All About Layering 4 workshop. Win-win!

Technique

First, I created three stripes using the Watercolor Stripes Stencil. I masked off the surrounding stripes and used my blending brushes to create a stripe of each color — one green, one pink, and one fuchsia. Then I die cut the panel using a stitched frame die.

Using the Springtime Azalea stamp set, I stamped out one flower and several leaves. I stamped the flower using shades of pink and fuchsia. I stamped several leaves in the same colors as the flower. I also stamped several leaves in shades of green. Once I was done stamping, I fussy cut everything!

I used the Thank You die to create my sentiment. I cut two in white cardstock and one in mirror cardstock. I then layered and glued them all together so that my sentiment would have extra dimension. Once dry, I glued the sentiment to my card.

Next, I adhered my flowers and leaves to the card. I used foam adhesive squares to pop up the flower and then glued the leaves in clusters around the flower. Then I adhered the entire panel to my A2 sized card base using adhesive foam strips.

Lastly, I used some black enamel accents to add a little more interest to my flower!

Tip

After fussy cutting use a black marker around the edges of your stamped image.
