Three go-to handmade card layouts!

Not 2 Shabby has released a new line of products featuring all things summer! I recently had the opportunity to use some of these new products to create three fun cards, and I’m excited to share them with you. I chose to use items from the release featuring my favorite summer treats: ice cream and popsicles! In this post, I’ll walk you through the designs and techniques I used to create each card.

Layout One: Center Pop Up

Use a rectangle die and foam tape to create a center you can pop up!

For my first card, I used a simple technique to create a fun and dynamic background. Using two different sizes of stitched rectangle dies, I crafted a cute border with a distinctive stitched edge, and then repeated the process on a smaller, inset rectangle to create an additional layer of texture and interest. To add a touch of whimsy and dimension to the design, I used foam tape to raise the center rectangle, giving the card a fun 3D effect. Finally, I stamped a cute ice cream cone and colored it with alcohol ink markers, making it the perfect card for anyone who loves all things sweet and adorable!

Layout Two: Peekaboo Fold

Fold the corner of a piece of patterned paper and show off both sides!

My second card boasts a playful and vibrant design that’s sure to make you smile. To start, I stamped a colorful pattern onto a cardstock panel to serve as the backdrop for the card. Next, I folded a piece of patterned paper and glued it onto the card, allowing the fold to create a dynamic and fun element in the design. I then added some cute popsicle ephemera underneath the fold, making it appear as if they’re peeking out from behind the patterned paper. This technique is an excellent way to add some lightheartedness and playfulness to your cards, and it’s perfect for creating designs that are both adorable and fun.

Card Three: Color Block

Use fun pattern paper to create an eye-catching color block card front.

For my third card, I created a colorful and eye-catching layout using patterned paper and stamped ice cream cones. I began by using a wide strip of patterned paper to create a striking color-blocked card front. Next, I stamped several ice cream cones and colored them using alcohol ink markers. To add some dimension and interest to the card, I popped the ice cream cones up along the break line using craft foam, creating a playful 3D effect. This versatile layout is perfect for showcasing any type of stamp, whether it be a single repeating stamp, several large stamps, or a mix of small and large stamps to create a pattern. For my card, I used vibrant rainbow colors to create a fun and festive look, perfect for a summer celebration.
